History of Vitech’s University Program

Vitech’s original software, CORE™ , began as a college project for Vitech’s founder and president, David Long, while he was a student at Virginia Tech. The initial version was designed as a tool for system engineers to use in the systems engineering training lab. As the tool evolved, David began to see its vast potential. In 1992, he established Vitech, and in February 1993, Vitech made its first commercial sale of CORE™ to the National Security Agency (NSA), where systems engineers used CORE™ software for security profiling. In 1999, Vitech’s University Program officially began at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with Professor Dennis M. Buede, who used it for a hands-on research project. After this first instance of CORE™ being used in the classroom, Vitech’s software has gone on to benefit thousands of undergraduate and graduate students.
