The Purge Versions command maintains the current value and the baseline value of all versioned attributes and parameters but discards all intermediate values. This command can be applied at many different levels enabling fine-grain control of attribute and parameter versions. You will be prompted to confirm before the versions are purged.
Versioning is enabled or disabled at the project level. If disabled at the project level, the commands to purge versions will be disabled.

Baselining Versions versus Purging Versions Baselining versions clears all attribute and parameter versions except for the current and establishes the current version as the baseline value. Purging versions maintains the current attribute / parameter version and the baseline version but discards all interim versions between the two. |
Relationship attributes are not frequently versioned. However, to purge versions for a relationship, select the relationship from the entity property sheet. Right-click to access the context menu and select the Purge Versions command. You must have administrator privileges for either the source or the target of the relationship in order to purge the versions.
To purge versions for one or more entities, select the desired entities from the entity list in Project Explorer. Right-click to access the context menu and select the Purge Versions command. You must have administrator privileges for the selected entities in order to purge the versions.
To purge versions for all entities in a folder, select the desired folder from the project pane in Project Explorer. Right-click to access the context menu and select the Purge Versions command. You must have administrator privileges for all entities within the folder.
Purging versions at the folder level will purge versions for all entities included in the folder and all subfolders.
To purge versions for all entities in a package, select the desired package from the project pane in Project Explorer. Right-click to access the context menu and select the Purge Versions command. You must have administrator privileges for all entities within the package.

To purge versions for all entities in a project, you can use Project Explorer or Administrative Tools. From Project Explorer, select the Purge Versions command from the Manage submenu on the Project menu. From Administrative Tools, select the project in the projects pane and then select the Purge Versions command from the Project menu. You must have administrator privileges for the project.
Purging versions at the project level purges versions for all relationship attributes as well as all entity attributes and parameters.
