Remove

The Remove command, accessed from the right-click context menu, removes the selected objects from the diagram. When dealing with entities, this breaks the minimum set of relationships necessary to remove the selection from the diagram but maintains all entities as part of the system definition. When dealing with diagram decorations such as notes and shapes, the decoration is simply deleted from the database.

CAUTION!

Remove versus Delete

Users are sometimes confused as to whether they should remove a selection or delete a selection. If you simply want to remove an entity from the diagram (a node or line on a diagram) but maintain it in your project as part of the system definition, use the Remove command. If you want to completely delete the entity from the database, use the Delete command.

Remember that GENESYS's underlying model is integrated, and from this integrated model, GENESYS generates a rich interconnected system definition. Function ABC on one diagram is the same as Function ABC on another diagram. If you delete Function ABC, it is deleted from both diagrams, all relationships, and from the database.

NOTE:

What permissions are required to remove a selection?

Removing diagram decoration requires no special permissions. Removing an entity deletes the relationship between two entities. To delete a target, you must have read permission to both entities and write permission to at least one of the entities.
