Export to CSV

The Export to CSV command generates a comma separated value (CSV) representation of a project, package, or folder. The export allows you to quickly generate data exchange tables, either ad hoc to meet an immediate need or a repeated table generated throughout your project. This data can be generated for import / display in a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel®, for import into another tool (particularly a domain specific tool), or for offline review an manipulation (perhaps a project-specific process regarding requirements reviews and revisions). The Export to CSV command leverages the same table definitions used by the IBM® Rational® DOORS® and Microsoft Word® import / export mechanism enabling a "define once, reuse many times" mentality.

The Export to CSV command uses a wizard to guide you through the process.

Step 1. Select the Data

The first step in the export process is to select the desired data to export. Using the standard tree view, you can select:

Step 2. Define the Table

Using the same table definition dialog as other tabular imports and exports, define the columns in your table.

Step 3. Customize Your Options

The final step in the wizard is to specify the desired options:

At this point, the wizard completes and you will be prompted to specify an output file. You can then manipulate the CSV output for transfer into another tool or even offline processing and re-entry into CORE.
